Bath Storefront Project: 1 Saville Row
June 2-16, 2009

Day 10:
Arrived early, aware that tomorrow I will be leaving the storefront. The second (Un) Claimed Drawing was gone.

I ended up touching everything in the room and eventually clearing away all my tools and paints to see the work more clearly in the space.

The Hanging Drawing line (a smaller version) came out again inspired by two hooks I just noticed in the ceiling. 'Drawing trying to stand up' was the thought that came to mind. First resting on the ladder and and a chair then propped by a hammer then held aloft with a dowel braced by the hammer.

The spirit of much of this work is to be spontaneous and expeditious...using what is at hand in a direct way.

The small hinged piece was set resting against the window, leaning toward passersby. The Mutable Drawing panels were stacked on the one of the window shelves, piled to the point of spilling over the edge of the shelf.

Every one of these works in progress is in a provisional state, ready to change at any moment. I imagine any exhibition would involve slight shifts in the work from day to day or week to week. I like the idea that none of it would be static.
