Bath Storefront Project: 1 Saville Row
June 2-16, 2009

Day 11:
The last day. I spent some time just sitting in the space and writing, noticing aspects of each work. Taking some distance. It was interesting to watch passersby as they looked into the window. I wonder what they make of the activity over the past two weeks. I realize I forgot to put up a sign or a card with my name. Makes me aware that I did consider this mostly a workspace.

I went around to most of the pieces and activated them in various ways and photographed them. With the Hanging Drawing line, I tried other versions of drawings, propping the line on the chair or the broom handle then adding myself as one of the props.

Later in the afternoon, the next artist, my neighbor, Glenna, arrived to install her work in the window. She worked swiftly with her husband assisting, placing work on the wall, the floor and on an easel. She posted two signs with an explanation of her work and contact info.

I was sad to leave the space which I had found so engaging. It was so interesting to see the new paintings in the place where my works had just been. I thought about the range of approaches to art from Glenna's paintings to Marcus, the London art dealer, to my own explorations. Vastly different yet an expansive art world can hold them all.
